So Flute

So Flute

“So Flute emerged two years ago as a fully-formed idea – namely to bring ‘a melting-pot of worldwide music that focuses on a strong, soulful undercurrent’ to Manchester. This concept has been immaculately realised by a young group of DJs as their own relaxed brand of party has steadily grown into a stalwart of the city’s Friday night calendar. From the bottom up, the night has been built with care. So Flute has become synonymous with fun, forward-thinking music.
Throwing parties in a similar vein to Mr Scruff’s seminal ‘Keep It Unreal’ residency at Band on the Wall down the road may be a no-brainer but the drive and determination to keep things fresh by booking interesting acts from across the globe sets the collective apart from their contemporaries, and the night’s burgeoning success has seen its residents booked at festivals across Europe. In two short years, So Flute has gone from strength to strength.
Since its inception, resident tastemakers Baloo, Bolts, Danuka and Yadava have put on monthly shows from up-and-comers like Werkha and Letherette; big-hitters Amir, Andres, and Alexander Nut; and even the Godfather himself, Gilles Peterson, who came to celebrate SF’s first birthday celebrations a year ago. Such diverse bookings keep the So Flute team standing out from the crowd. By assembling such a strong cast of boundary-pushing crate-diggers, brought in for their nous rather than their name, the shows retain a relaxed vibe that keeps fans coming back for more every month, rather than chasing numbers.”
